Eric Bloom is a trumpet player who has been playing professionally since he was 15. A native of Rhode Island, USA, Eric has become one of the most in-demand freelance trumpet players of the New England area.
At 17 years old he was chosen as the soloist for the All Eastern jazz band that performed at Carnegie Hall under the direction of Jon Faddis. After graduation, Eric attended William Paterson University and the New England Conservatory of Music where he studied under Wynton Marsalis, Charles Schulter (Boston Symphony), George Garzone, Jerry Bergonzi, Bob Brookmeyer and Danilo Perez.
In 2009 he began playing with Diane Birch, a highly acclaimed singer-songwriter from Brooklyn, NY. With Diane, he was able to open up for British pop sensation James Morrison, US singer Mat Kearny, and Nick Jonas. While on the road with Diane, he was able to do several headlining tours in the US, Canada, Japan, Italy, Holland, England, and France, as well as performing on several T.V. shows including the Craig Ferguson Show, the Carson Daly Show, Jimmy Kimmel Show, the Today Show, the David Letterman Show, and the Conan O’Brian Show.
In 2011, Eric started playing with Soulive and Lettuce, two of the most critically-acclaimed American funk bands. Since then, he had the chance to play with musical greats such as: Dr. John, Pharohe Monch, Billy Martin, Skerik, Kofi & Oteil Burbridge, Talib Kweli, Questlove, Mark Whitfield, Karl Denson, Ledesi, George Porter Jr., Eldar, and Maceo Parker.
Notable Venues: Blue note, Village Vanguard, Carnegie Hall, The Fillmore. In addition, Eric has played in several well-known jazz and blues festivals including the Bonnaroo Music Festival, Japan’s Fuji-Rock Festival, Korea’s Jisan Valley Festival, Tremblant Blues Festival, Jacksonville Jazz Festival, Jazz Aspen Snowmass, and the world famous Newport Jazz Festival.
